So we don't always 'sail' wherever we go..... Last week we did a delivery of a 36' Grand Banks Trawler in Marathon, Fl to Marathon, Fl.
If it were a car, we would have literally 'drove it across the street' to its new home. But of course, in the boating world, we had to drive it from the boat yard all the way around the island, under the 7 mile bridge, to the other side of the street to its marina. An advantage of driving a trawler, though instead of our typical sailboats, is that it cruises a lot faster (around 8 knots) allowing us to complete the trip in a little over 2 hours.
During our trip we had a lot of fun cruising through waters we hadn't sailed in quite a while. It was also added to with a great view of the water (from a 15 feet high cockpit) , where we saw many turtles, dolphins, and fish along the way.
